Major Russian Attacks Cut Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's power facilities have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Russian aerial assaults have resulted in electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with interruptions to water systems, according to local authorities.

At the same time, a minor was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Moscow has intensified assaults on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to increase pressure on Russia.

"The necessity is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, the EU and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and enforcing restrictions," he wrote in a public message.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 missiles attacked energy facilities, describing such strikes as "premeditated" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Government representatives said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were working to restore power.

A series of attacks struck electrical systems and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the metropolitan region experienced intense attacks throughout the evening. A minor died and several individuals were hurt.

The attacks succeed periods of bombing campaigns in the area, parts of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told the media that Moscow was intentionally trying to damage the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated energy workers and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
