Liz Truss, launched the premiere of her online program with a pledge to reveal "those with ill intent" striving to undermine the UK, United States and European nations. She explained she would lay bare how an "global web of leftists work to undermine popular rule and the will of the people."

"We're going to look at the political movement of Donald Trump and observe how this can be accomplished in Britain," the former PM stated. "Our guests will include the leading lights of the Trumpist political sphere."

Prior to the show's launch, there was one particularly enthusiastic supporter. "This marks the start of a type of transformation," remarked the controversial US journalist. His Just the News platform will carry the ex-PM's new broadcasts.

Establishing Ties in the Conservative Media Landscape

Compatriot supporters, such as a counselor supportive of Reform, have also helped her establish the Liz Truss Show. The setup is competent, if somewhat rudimentary. Truss has amassed a subscriber base of 10k in her debut week and her first episode had sixty-seven thousand views during that week.

This represents a humble beginning, but in partnering with Solomon, Truss is being thrust into a established right-wing media network producing and amplifying Maga talking points. Its obsessions include claims of media suppression by the traditional news outlets and a desire to eradicate a so-called administrative state – which the ex-PM holds responsible for the swift end of her calamitous premiership.

"Solomon's outlet is not famous outside of the Maga-verse, but it does have gravitas there, largely because of its founder, who provides analysis on pro-Trump shows like Bannon's 'War Room' podcast and has even questioned Trump," commented Alex Hinton, who has extensively researched the Make America Great Again phenomenon.

A Divisive Associate

Truss's attempt to bring the pro-Trump media model to the United Kingdom has pushed her closer to divisive personalities such as the journalist.

He founded Just the News after criticism after he was accused of promoting inaccurate reports about the President's actions in the Ukraine, as well as disputed reports about ex-ambassador to the region.

Solomon's reporting were amplified within the conservative press, with Solomon appearing as a regular guest on Sean Hannity's influential Fox News program. The former president personally promoted the journalist's work.

Solomon made the reports about Ukraine in a set of articles for the publication the Hill, after having been re-labelled as a columnist when staffers raised concerns regarding his reporting. Weeks after the journalist departed the newspaper in October 2019, the outlet stated it was performing a review of his columns relating to Ukrainian matters. It determined Solomon had relied on untrustworthy contacts and stated he "omitted crucial information about main Ukrainian informants, specifically the fact that they had been indicted or were under investigation."

Joining the Network

The journalist's personal TV and radio guest spots are a sign of the right-wing media network Truss is joining. He discussed his support for the program on a broadcast he helps run on the conservative cable network, a rightwing cable channel that is home to the conservative firebrand Steve Bannon and on which commentator Tucker Carlson also appears. The ex-PM has already spoken with the political operative on one of her first podcasts.

Through her association with the journalist and his outlet, Truss has become a niche participant in a much wider network of right-wing publications that often share and promote one another's material.

The journalist's broadcasts have frequently included personalities such as influencer Mike Benz, a political voice whose arguments against the US Agency for International Development was cited by the tech billionaire as reasoning behind dismantling the government body.

A Global Media Play

Although Truss's stilted style and career difficulties have been mocked at home, some US observers are taking seriously her bid to rebrand as a British branch of the pro-Trump media ecosystem.

"It is necessary to treat people like Truss with seriousness, even if you may not want to accept their words at face value," said a former Biden White House aide, who served in the Biden White House.

"You saw how in the last election cycle Donald Trump leveraged that ecosystem to get his message out. Certainly that network exports and influences conversation overseas. It appears fairly obvious to me that the environment in the Britain are akin to what enabled this parallel press sphere to flourish in the US."

"The internet knows no borders," he stated. "There's a kind milieu within which content circulates – on occasion taking an extreme form and other times more moderately – but which is networked."

Professor Hinton said the expansion of the digital conservative movement in the United Kingdom lately meant the "chance to have a growing impact is considerable."
